Legal Files software releases Version 8.0

March 12, 2009

Legal Files Software, Inc., a leading case and matter management software development company, is pleased to announce the most recent updates to its client/server version of the software. Created more than 15 years ago, Legal Files has evolved through many updates, the most recent which provides many significant improvements to the Microsoft Office integration, calendar and reporting features.

Microsoft Office Integration Features:

• Enhancements to the “Save to Legal Files” function provides users several time-saving capabilities, including: editing the subject line of an e-mail before saving it to a case in Legal Files without ever leaving Outlook; saving each attachment (documents, images, PDFs etc.) in an e-mail as a separate record in a case/matter; and automatically checking if e-mails have already been saved to a case/matter to prevent duplicate entries.

• A “Lookup Legal Files Documents” button has been added to Outlook that enables a user to quickly locate and attach file-related documents stored in Legal Files to e-mails in Outlook.

Calendar Enhancements:

• A new team-at-a-glance monthly calendar view enables users to see in graphical format on one screen the calendars of multiple users.

• The Calendar Reschedule Wizard allows appointments to be simultaneously rescheduled for multiple users.

• Users can now attach documents, images etc. to a calendar appointment in Legal Files.

• Added calendar and task bi-directional synchronization to/from GroupWise and Lotus Notes.

Reporting Updates:

• Users can now drill directly to open files located from the reports results screen for many reports, including the To-Do, Time, Expense, Contacts, Name Card, File Query and Custom Window Query reports.

• Additional Crystal Report parameters and viewing options make it easier-than-ever to create customized Legal Files reports.

• Users can now export the results of the powerful File Query Report directly to Excel.

• An XML-based time and expense export function now enables all time and expense data entered in Legal Files to be exported for use with external time/ billing and accounting applications.

• Users can now select a team view for the Calendar, To-Do and Time reports, allowing these reports to be generated for multiple users at the same time.

Other Improvements:

• The addition of a new preview pane to both the Document Selection and Mail Log Selection windows, enabling users to preview documents and other files (Word, Excel, PDF, images etc.) at a glance, while scrolling through a list of case-related documents and mail records.

• Creation of a new Mail Importer tool that allows incoming mail and documents to be quickly scanned and imported into Legal Files via direct integration with a scanner, or by using the Windows“Send To” menu, or dragging and dropping files onto an icon on the desktop. The Mail Importer allows a mail clerk or other staff member to log who the incoming item was to/from, save it to the appropriate case file(s), and route it to the appropriate users’ or attorneys’ Manage My Day inbox with a message or instructions.

• Major improvements to the User Assignment Wizard, which allows mass file assignments (assign/un-assign/reassign staff members) in a file based upon numerous query and filter options. Additional query and filter options were added; the wizard now has the ability to assign/reassign a team of users at one time.

“This latest software release is one of our most ambitious to date,” said John Kanoski, CEO at Legal Files Software, Inc. “We anticipate this new version of our client/server product will please many of our long-time customers as we listened to their feedback and designed the upgrades around the features they wanted to see most.”
