Patuxent Riverkeeper implements Legal Files

Legal Files Software, Inc., a leading provider of legal case and office management solutions, today announced that the Patuxent Riverkeeper has implemented Legal Files software for complaint tracking and office management.

A nonprofit, privately funded organization, the Patuxent Riverkeeper is an advocate for the river and its connected ecosystem. A small number of staff members and many volunteers comprise the organization which is affiliated with the Waterkeeper Alliance in New York, an umbrella group that accredits and connects Waterkeepers internationally.

The Patuxent is the longest and deepest intrastate river in Maryland.

"As the eyes and ears of the river, we are on the lookout for its mistreatment by polluters or overeager developers," explained Patuxent Riverkeeper Fred Tutman. "We also want to protect the health and safety of people who use the river. Legal Files makes it easier to share data and work 'tag team' for the resolution of these issues and projects," he said.

Although Legal Files software naturally lends itself to such tracking and, if needed, litigation functions as well, it is the system's ability to determine relationships between and among what could seem like disparate threads of information that is truly amazing, Tutman said. "And since the Riverkeeper can customize menus and fields for our own needs," he said, "the appeal of Legal Files is much broader, going beyond the traditional legal niche."

In addition to being used as a customizable complaint tracking and file management system, Legal Files enables the Patuxent Riverkeepers' multiple users to share contact files, link related records, e-mails, correspondence and other pertinent record keeping.
