Full-Service Corporate Legal Department Selects Legal Files Software for Matter Management

Legal Files “will transform our legal department, eliminating duplicative efforts and providing us with the tools we need to get our job done.”

LSB Industries, Inc. has selected Legal Files as its first-ever legal matter management system, the software developer’s Legal Software, Inc. announced today. Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, LSB Industries manufactures and sells chemical products for the agricultural, mining, and industrial markets.

“We are full-service corporate legal department, but we were managing things the old-fashioned way: spreadsheets (especially for contracts), shared drive folders and paper files,” explained LSB’s Michael J. Foster, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary.

“We were well aware of the shortcomings of trying to manage by spreadsheet,” he said. “You have to enter information multiple times, only one person can be in the spreadsheet at any given time, it’s hard to tell if the information is update-to-date, reporting is difficult, and no other information, such as emails, documents or notes, can be linked to the spreadsheet.”

More efficient contract management solution is “a big part of why we decided to choose Legal Files,” Foster said. “We needed to have a better way to track expiration dates and response deadlines. We did an extensive online search for all types of systems,” he said. “One was primarily geared towards e-billing, but our needs are more centered around matter management and case document management. Others were too law firm oriented. Legal Files, on the other hand, was very moldable and more tailored to corporate matter management.”

As part of the software project, Legal Files Software, Inc. is also providing project management, installation assistance, training and maintenance/support.

“We’re very excited about getting started with Legal Files,” Foster concluded. “It will transform our legal department, eliminating duplicative efforts and providing us with the tools we need to get our job done.”
