Legal Aid Alberta Implements Legal Files Software

“Legal Files will play an important part in helping us reach our goal of using our resources as effectively as possible to improve our client service against a backdrop of rapidly growing demand.”

Legal Aid Alberta has implemented Legal Files, the leading matter management and legal case management developed by Legal Files Software Inc., as its practice management program, the software company announced today. Legal Aid Alberta provides legal support for Albertans, including the provision of lawyers at an affordable cost for people who need assistance for certain criminal matters and don’t have the resources to hire a lawyer.

“As a non-profit agency that subsidizes legal fees for low-income Albertans, Legal Aid Alberta is continuously exploring ways to make our processes more effective and efficient in order to better serve our clients. Legal Files will play an important part in helping us reach our goal of using our resources as effectively as possible to improve our client service against a backdrop of rapidly growing demand.”

Legal Aid Alberta implemented Legal Files in a large-scale project that included its Criminal Resolution Office, Family Law Office and Youth Criminal Defence Office. Now that the project is completed, Legal Files is being used in all Legal Aid Alberta office locations, including its provincial office in Edmonton.

Given its organizational structure, Legal Aid Alberta chose to license the Enterprise configuration of Legal Files which is designed to meet the needs of organizations with multiple offices or locations. Under Legal Files’ Enterprise, the Legal Files application is configured so that the organization maintains only one database, but contains multiple, separate and secure “views” of the data.

In addition to immigration law software licensing, Legal Files Software, Inc. also provided project management, onsite configuration assistance, and in-house custom programming services for a data conversion and a data feed. Legal Files Software, Inc. also provided onsite training in multiple offices as part of the implementation.
