University Chooses Legal Files Software to Organize its Legal Matters

“We wanted a system that could cater to our needs specifically. With its extensive experience with universities, Legal Files proved to be highly knowledgeable and experienced in that regard.”

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), a public research university located in the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas, has recently implemented Legal Files, a matter, document, and workflow management application, for its Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) and Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED). As the southernmost member of the University of Texas System, UTRGV has multiple campuses throughout the region.

Karen Adams, UTRGV’s Chief Legal Officer, stated that both OLA and OIED focused their initial energies on the substantive issues facing the young, start-up university, using off-the-shelf methods of matter and document management. As the institution matured, both offices recognized the timing and opportunity for moving to a well-regarded matter, document, and workflow management application was right. “We wanted a system that could cater to our needs specifically,” Adams noted. “With its extensive experience with universities, Legal Files proved to be highly knowledgeable and experienced in that regard,” she said.

Adams explained that both offices are benefiting from the experiences and feedback that other customers have provided to Legal Files, which we can see in the product. “We are using Legal Files to track legal issues, contracts, and student affairs, as well as for records management, so organization and precision are imperative.”

UTRGV’s adoption of Legal Files has enabled the OLA and OIED to manage legal and equity issues with enhanced efficiency and accuracy. With this implementation, UTRGV joins a growing number of higher education institutions that have turned to Legal Files for their legal management needs.

Legal Files is a widely used application in the higher education setting, with several prestigious institutions already using it. Boston University, Clemson University, Seton Hall University, St. John’s University, State University of New York, Texas A&M University, University of Arizona, University of Connecticut, University of Illinois, University of Manitoba, University of Massachusetts, and Villanova University are some of its customers.
