Another University Legal Department Chooses Legal Files Software

Dickinson College, a private, liberal arts college in Carlisle, Penn., has signed an agreement with Legal Files Software, Inc. to license and implement Legal Files’ electronic legal case management system for the College’s Legal Department, the software company announced today.

Legal Files has been adopted by numerous college and university departments through the U.S. and Canada including Boston University, Clemson University, Seton Hall, University of Illinois, University of Manitoba, SUNY, Texas A&M, University of Massachusetts, York University and Villanova, as well as multiple offices at the University of Connecticut.

“Legal Files’ client base includes numerous educational entities, which was important to me when deciding which company to choose for our automation needs” Dickinson College General Counsel Kendall D. Isaac said. “The comprehensive training our office has received was great and helped us to get up to speed and become proficient in system utilization fairly quickly,” he added.

One of those goals is to gain a more accurate understanding of how and where the legal department spends time by matter, activity or other criteria. “We don’t want to track time, been there, done that,” he joked, “but Legal Files will show us where our efforts are going and that’s important. It will also help us identify the value the department provides, plus identify, as early as possible, if resources need to be redirected.”
